"Being in this world but not of this world." Have you ever heard of this? Have you ever used this phrase yourself? I have. But is it true? Today we will begin a journey together in the Old Testament book of Daniel and we will explore this concept of being in and not being of the world.
HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK: What is the environment(s) that God is sending you to represent Christ? Send some time thinking through all the places that you typically live in any given week. Consider places like where you work, where you shop, where you hang out; all the places that you visit each week for any number of reasons.
As you think about each of these places, write down how well each of them sync with Jesus, that is, are these places ideal environments for you as a follower of Christ? If a particular place is ideal for following Christ, write down why. If not, write the reasons why it is not.
START WITH DANIEL: For this homework project, let's start with Daniel and his three friends. Was their new environment in Babylon ideal for following God? I'll give you a hint, it was not very ideal at all. List some reasons why. Follow this same line of reasoning when you are thinking through all the places that you typically live in week to week.
