Cortalim ZP member Anton Vas who also manages the Cortalim farmers club on Tuesday made arrangements to supply rice and other food grains to the residents of Cortalim amidst the state wide lock down due to Covid 19 pandemic. Vas speaking to media said that their Cortalim farmers club had decided to take care of the needs of the residents in Cortalim who could not move out of the houses and also because shops are closed.
Vas said that the permissions for the farmers club to supply grins was revived and within a day vas made arrangements of food grains from the wholesale outlets.
" we are now making small packets of rice and grains to be delivered all over. The only issue is that there is no sufficient stocks available at wholesalers. We may give for a day or two but what can be done after stocks are over. I appeal to the government to strengthen our hands so that we can supply all over the area. I have sufficient volunteers and vehicles to ensure that I can deliver to all the people in the entire constituency." said vas Former velsao panch and social activist Roquezinho DSouza said that it was a nice initiative taken by Vas to supply during crisis. " The government is saying the grocery shops will be open but they don't have stocks . What is the point? Instead if they can support organisations like Cortalim farmers club who have done great social services earlier for the people " said Vas.
