Karick Lake in the Blackwater River State Forest - Certainly worth a visit!

Karick Lake in the Blackwater River State Forest - Certainly worth a visit! I was traveling alone from Miramar Beach, Florida to Birmingham, Alabama and had my video cam with me. I was wondering where I may stop along the way to break up my trip 4.5 hour trip. This spot, which is part of the Florida Birding Trail, is located in the Blackwater River State Forest area between Baker, Florida and Andalusia, Alabama. There is a sign on the road (State Road 189) that I travel on my route that I have passed hundreds of times but never taken the time to stop. I decided to check it out this time and give it a look.

It was around 2:00 when I arrived, so not the best time to catch animals and birds feeding, but it was worth a try. I was surprised by its beauty and wildlife there at that time of day. This is a short little video of some of what I saw when there. There are trails around the lake, but I was limited on time, as I wanted to get back home before dark. So, this is a short video filmed during the short 1.5 hours that I spent there. I hope you enjoy it and if you take the same State Road 189 that I took, stop off and take a short break and enjoy the essence of this beautiful little gem of a spot!
