Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Deffinition and this episode we're breaking down the Train To Busan Sequel Peninsula.

The trailer for the upcoming film has just dropped and the post apocalyptic first look has a lot to unpack from it.

Throughout this video we're gonna be going over everything that you need to know about the movie including it's storyline, cast and a lot more.

Train To Busan Sequel Breakdown

Ok so Train To Busan pretty much flew under the radar internationally when it was first release, however, due to word of mouth and it genuinely being a great movie. It's picked up a massive following over the four years since it was released.

Not only was Train To Busan an incredible zombie story, it was also an incredible human one too that centred around a workaholic and his relationship with his daughter.

Set to the backdrop of a zombie outbreak, the first movie allowed us to experience the horror that such an infection would cause.

There were lock downs, huge hoardes of the undead and the train allowed us to watch the disease spread throughout the country as the characters traversed it.

All in all it was an incredible film and a lot of fans including myself have sat with baited breath waiting for a followup to it.

That's where Peninsula comes in.

Peninsula Meaning

Now, most of us just assumed that it would be called Train To Busan 2, however Peninsula as a title could indicate a number of things.

Firstly a Peninsula is a piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water.

However, Korea itself is often classified as a peninsula so the movie will likely be taking place solely in the country.

So we can assume from this that similar to the train the outbreak we will see things from one central location, namely the country. Typically in movies sequels tend to scale up from the prior movie so with the first film taking place predominantly on a train, the next step up from this would be an island, city or who knows, maybe even the entire country itself.




The premise of the film was released alongside the trailer and it states:

Four years after the events of Train to Busan, there is nothing left of Korea except its geography. A crew on a retrieval mission comes under attack, and in the process discovers more survivors.

So we can guess that mercenaries have went into to retrieve someone or pick up supplies in a part of Korea that is thought to be completely wiped out.

We do see aspects of this in the new teaser and judging by the title I think it's a safe assumption to make.

I will discuss more aspects of the trailer later in the video but that's just the basic meaning behind the title and what it could indicate about the project.

Peninsula Release Date

Now, though we don't know have a confirmed release date in the trailer and a lot of sights are listing this as unknown. It is currently scheduled to come out on the 12th of August 2020.
