The Weird World of Beastars | Traven Talks

The Weird World of Beastars | Traven Talks Beastars is a weird show. It’s edgy. It’s funny. It’s horny. It’s lovely. It’s murder-y. It’s furry - which I don’t think is a problem, but it’s certainly not the kind of thing I’d expect to see on this specific list. Everything about it is, to some extent, unusual, so much so it’s hard to even know where to begin when describing it.

However, that’s also what, for me, makes it so enthralling in the first place. It’s a show that defies standard description, and whose through lines about growing up, figuring out who you are and navigating the uncomfortable nuances of a divided world and its expectations of you are only as effective as they are because of the strange way it goes about exploring them.

So today, not only do I want to talk about what I think makes Beastars so weird, but also how and why those details also make it so memorable . . .
