Boris Johnson warns that the few who've attacked police and vandalised statues will be arrested in the coming days. The PM tears into ‘growing minority’ of violent thugs who have ‘hijacked’ peaceful BLM protests.
He said: "They may think they've got away with it," but says police are reviewing body cam footage and identifying and arresting hundreds of people who've broken the law.
"My message to everybody is that they should not go to these demonstrations.
Whatever our feelings about the cause, we should not support a demonstration that is in all probability going to end in deliberate and calculated violence."
The PM said he talked with police who've already made hundreds of arrests in the last few days. Adding: "They will make many more because believe me they can see the culprits.
They may think they've got away with it, but they haven't because, overwhelmingly, they are being recorded with body worn camera and we will bring them to justice.
And they will face the full force of the law. It is not acceptable in this country to attack a police officer.
It is not acceptable to set out in a calculated way and do damage to public property. Let alone a statue of Winston Churchill."
