I found the privy outhouse metal detecting from the 1700s and dug artifacts

I found the privy outhouse metal detecting from the 1700s and dug artifacts I came upon a small round depression in the woods that looked interesting. It was about the size of an old outhouse and you could clearly see that it had been dug out by people as well as some rocks that had been piled nearby. I had gone to do some metal detecting at one of the local cellar holes here in NH and wasn't having much luck except for one Tombac button from the 1700s. So I decided to go do some exploring and started following the old stone walls. At first I thought it may have been the old well but it was not rock lined so it must have been a privy. Turning my Garrett ATGOLD metal detector on I first dug up a brass D buckle....whoa! there were people here. Swinging my detector more I found a couple more buttons and one of them actually had a bone back and four holes for sewing. To top it all off I dug up a thimble and all of this just in minutes. It pays off to hike, walk, search and explore the woods out there because you never know what you will find.
