When it comes to speed shooting in archery, I wanted to figure out my maximum practical draw weight using lars anderson's general technique of holding arrows in the draw hand (he has various techniques but arrows are usually held in draw hand). I want to find out the limiting factor in this technique analysis. In this video, I will be testing the previous 1300 grain half inch warbow arrows with 2 fletch, and then attempt to speed shoot with conventional carbon arrows. I am not the fastest speed shooter but I want to provide a deeper analysis to find out the pros and cons of this technique, compared to more conventional techniques.
This is part 2 of my analysis of speed shooting heavy bows with slavic draw + arrows in draw hand.
It seems that the weight of the arrows necessary to shoot heavy bows is a significant factor that limits your rate of fire. The heavier the bow, the heavier and stiffer the arrow needs to be. If you want to be historical, you also need organic materials, and exotic wood that is thin but stiff enough is not always accessible. For me, I can only hold 3 organic warbow arrows in my draw hand and even that is too tiring. The draw weight itself is enough factor but I think with practice anyone can shoot a reasonably heavy bow.
