Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2pm Eastern (NYC) Time: "Life Is Large" 25th Anniversary Special! "Life is Large" was an epic album for us. We remember being conscious of the common "sophomore slump" template, and so we put everything we had into this second album, to make sure it would not fall into that category.
We wrote all the songs while touring on our first album, "River of Fallen Stars," which had come out the previous year. For the first time, we carted along a portable recording studio, so we could get our musician friends' around the country to lend their talents to our songs. This kind of technology is taken for granted nowadays, but back then, it was the cutting edge. By the end of the tour, we had written and recorded more than a dozen songs, and the list of musicians who generously recorded with us on this album include: Roger McGuinn, Steve Earle, Charlie Sexton, Kelly Willis, Nils Lofgren, The Dixie Hummingbirds, Peter Holsapple, Susan Cowsill, Eric Ambel, John Gorka, Jimmy LaFave, Michael Fracasso, Monte Warden and Starz Vanderlockett.
Our favorite quote from any review, ever, came from the Chicago Sun Times in their review of "Life Is Large." The album, they said, had, "More hooks than Marilyn Monroe's closet." On This Sunday, we shared the songs and stories of this album as we played each song live, in sequence, for the first time ever.

“Life Is Large” was originally released on the now defunct Green Linnet/redbird label in 1996, and was reissued on the Varèse Sarabande label in 2003. All songs by Pete and Maura Kennedy, except “Heart of Darkness” by Pete Kennedy, and “And Your Bird Can Sing” by Lennon/McCartney.
