Chicago transforms auto show center into field hospital

The U.S. city of Chicago is transforming a convention center into a temporary healthcare facility over concerns of a surge in coronavirus infections. The first 500 beds were unveiled on Friday in the hall that has been home to the Chicago Auto Show. The center is expected to house a further 2,500 beds, and patients with mild symptoms will be transferred there from existing hospitals. According to the Johns Hopkins University tracker, there are now over 9,000 confirmed cases in the state of Illinois, where Chicago is located. #coronavirus #COVID-19
