Gouseva Part 1 - Introduction and significance of Gou-Daana -Ep103 14-May-2020 Sairam,

in this episode Shri Gurudeva talks on the topic as to how to make our life as a divine nectar. it can only happen through our deeds/karma. Money, power, property is short lived.

He talks about the importance of Gouseve and the benefits of doing Gouseva. Human birth is pure and a rare one. We can take birth as snake, lizard, rat so on but not sure if we can get human birth. And we have got this human birth, then one has to make it worthy. Shastra says to do daana in order to make life worthy.

All couples don't get a child. Even if they give birth to a child, it may be differently abled. But everyone fights to get mukti or moksha (salvation). Gautam Buddha took 500+ births to get salvation. We do so many bad deeds, then when will we get salvation.

There are 5 different types of human beings:
1. unmarried (bachelors, bachelorrette ...) - who will remove their bad karmas after they die?
2. married but divorced and no children.
3. married and living together but no children.
4. married but widow and no children
5. married but widower and no children.
6. married, have children but children are differently abled and need to be taken care of.

Our Sanatana dharma says that after we have taken birth and after we die, shava samskaaras (last rites) are to be performed for 11 days. This karya needs to be performed by the son of the parents. Parents have all luxuries in life but either they don't have son or he is differently abled or not living with them. For some, the situation is as listed above. During lockdown, many could not have their last rites performed due to various restrictions. So, there is no guarantee in this current world that son(s) will perform last rites.

In Garuda Purana, Lord Vishnu says that as long as you live in this world, after death, depending on your karmas, last rites are to be performed in order to obtain mukti (salvation or rebirth).

A remedy for such problems is Gou-daana (donate a cow). Where even if no one is there to perform the last rites (shava samkaras), one can clear those karmas by donating cow when he/she is alive. Skanda purana (gruhasthashrama) also suggests the same remedy.

Thanks..sairam
